Boyz 'N the Hood (1991)

John Singleton's portrayal of social problems in inner-city Los Angeles takes the form of a tale of three friends growing up together 'in the 'hood.' Half-brothers Doughboy and Ricky Baker are foils for each other's personality, presenting very different approaches to the tough lives they face. Ricky is the 'All-American' athlete, looking to win a football scholarship to USC and seeks salvation through sports, while 'Dough' succumbs to the violence, alcohol, and crime surrounding him in his environment, but maintains a strong sense of pride and code of honor. First Time Felon (1997)
Inspired by the true story of Greg Yance. In the film, Yance (Epps) is a hood who goes to jail for possession of drugs. He is given a choice: 5 years in jail or a couple of months in boot camp. He chooses boot camp and finds out it is tougher than he thought it would be. He braves it through and comes home a better man. He then has to deal with the real world, and never gives up no matter what the odds.

Crips - gang z ulic Los Angeles założony przez 15-letniego Raymonda Washingtona wówczas ucznia "Fremont High School" ale za współtwórcę uważa sie również Stanleya "Tookie" Williamsa. Powstał w 1969 roku i po tym jak czasy "Czarnych Panter" skończyły się młody Washington, który z resztą też chciał być jedną z "Panter" na początku lat 60' lecz nie został przyjęty, powodem był zbyt młody wiek ale to nie powstrzymało Raymonda Washingtona i sam założył swoją organizację "Baby Avenues" aka "Avenue Cribs".

Raymond Lee Washington

Washington zebrał grupę przyjaciół ze swojej ulicy "78th Street" w celu kontynuowania ideologii z lat 60' "Czarnych Panter" jako lider grupy miał też na celu chronienie lokalnych dzielnic. Pierwszymi członkami byli: Anglo "Barefoot Pookie" White, Michael "Shaft" Concepcion, Melvin Hardy, Jimel "Godfather" Barnes, Bennie Simpson, Greg "Batman" Davis, Mack Thomas, Stanley "Tookie" Williams, Raymond "Danifu" Cook, Ecky, No 1, oraz Michael Christianson. Wizje rewolucji stały się na tyle obsesujne, że zmieniły punkt widzenia na tyle iż zaczeli oni stawać się enklawą, która nie tylko broniła wyłącznie siebie ale także stawała się samowystarczalna, stała się gangiem.
Na początku gang zajmował się napadami, kradzieżami i zwalczaniem wrogich gangów. W szczytowym dla siebie okresie gang liczył sobie ponad 10 tysięcy członków, a jego dochody ze sprzedazy narkotyków oraz innych nielegalnych interesów osiągneły setki milionów dolarów. W 2002 roku gang ten został prawie całkowicie rozbity przez LAPD (Los Angeles Police Department, pol. Departament Policji Miasta Los Angeles).
Znakiem rozpoznawczym członków Crips są niebieskie elementy ubioru, począwszy od czapek a na sznurówkach kończąc. Największym rywalem Crips jest nosząca się na czerwono grupa Bloods. Oba gangi niejednokrotnie próbowały się pogodzić, lecz cały czas trwają zaciekłe walki między obiema grupami. Oba gangi są ściśle powiązane z hip-hopem.

Historia Gangu Bloodsów:

Bloods (Piru) - uliczny gang z Los Angeles, powstały w 1971 roku w najbiedniejszej dzielnicy LA - Compton. Gang został stworzony przez różne sety (grupy) wcześniej niezrzeszonej w żadne organizacje czarnej młodzieży - Piru Street Boys z Compton, The Bishops oraz Athens Park Boys. Warto w tym miejscu wspomnień o największym wrogu Bloodsów - gangu noszącym się na niebiesko, Cripsach. W 1972 zaczęły się walki pomiędzy obydwoma gangami, jednak policja zaobserwowała znaczną eskalację przemocy dopiero w 1975 roku. Gang czerpał pieniądze głównie z napadów z bronią w ręku, handlu narkotykami oraz bronią. Okresem, w którym gang "wypłynął" na szerszą wodę jest początek lat. 90 Wówczas Marion "Suge" Knight wraz z raperem Dr. Dre założyli, za pieniądze pochodzące z handlu narkotykami wytwórnię Death Row, ściśle powiązaną z Bloodsami. Co ciekawe, wytwórnia zatrudniała głównie raperów, dj'ów oraz producentów, którzy należeli do Cripsów - Snoop Dogg, Daz Dillinger, Kurupt, Nate Dogg czy Warren G, lecz prawdziwymi gwiazdami byli Dr. Dre oraz Tupac Shakur, których płyty pokrywały się niejednokrotnie kilkukrotną platyną. W połowie lat 90. sety Bloodsów zaczęły powstawać na ulicach Nowego Jorku oraz na całym Wschodnim Wybrzeżu (głównie w Bostonie). Rok 2002 przyniósł prawie całkowite rozbicie gangu Cripsów, jak odnotowała to LAPD. Obecnie można zaobserwować rozszerzanie się struktur gangu Bloodsów na resztę stanów, struktury już powstałe zaczynają się łączyć w większe grupy, tak jak ma to miejsce np. w Teksasie czy w "kolebce" Bloodsów - Compton.
Kolorem Piru i Bloodsów jest czerwony. Zwracają się do siebie per "Blood". Zwykle noszą przy sobie czerwony materiał lub czerwone ubranie. Gang Bloodsów maluje czerwone graffiti i używa terminów "Piru" i "CK" (Crips Killer - Zabojca Cripsów). Na pozycję w gangu wpływają wiek członków, ich postura, liczba aresztowań i cechy osobowe. Głównym sposobem zarabiania pieniędzy przez Piru jest sprzedaż narkotyków. Najczęściej używają takiej broni jak Uzi, karabin Mac-10, pistolet 9mm oraz "czterdziestka piątka".
Obecnie największe korzyści gang czerpie z handlu bronią, handlu narkotykami, porwań oraz morderstw (zlecenie zabójstw).
